An unusual day

It was a fine morning, Margaret walked on the small street with her husband Jack. Jack is a daily wage worker in builders project, he always took his wife to the work. Doctors advised Margaret to not to go work and do heavy lifting. Jack never listened to it.

That day Margaret felt a mild pain when she walked, she stopped several places, Jack did not want to go late as they will reduce the wages, he scolded her and forced her to walk.

An old man around 75 years old, stops in front of her with a stick and looked at her in the eye. His eyes were grayish white, he looked like partially blind. Startled with his sudden appearance Margaret stopped again. The old man stared at her, she asked him to move away. The old man asked her to sit for sometime as she looks not good.

Frustrated Jack turned and looked at both of them talking, he walked fast and kicked the old man. The old man fell on the ground and kept staring at Margaret.

Margaret eyes filled with tears when the pain hit her again. She informed Jack she needs some time, Jack did not listen to her and pulled her by the hair and reached the work place.

The old man stood up with his stick and disappeared inside the crowd.

Margaret and Jack started their work at the construction site. Margaret was slower than other days as her due date is almost close. Jack carried a window and walked to first floor, that is when Margaret heard his voice. Jack was electrocuted and pushed our from the steps. Jack came down unconscious, Margaret looked at the scene and in a moment she felt dizzy in shock and fell down.

Both were taken in an ambulance and they got admitted in the nearest hospital.

After seeing Margaret doctors admitted her in Labor room, Jack got his consciousness back and felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He touched his stomach to feel something is inside opened his eyes wide and screamed in his wife voice.

Jack woke up in his wife body with a pain in his stomach he screamed in his wife voice “Doctors! save me, something happening to me”

Nurses entered the labor room and looked at him and said “(Jack)Margaret, just relax, don’t get panic. Don’t worry about your husband, he is perfectly alright”

(Jack) Margaret screamed “No doctor, its something else” before he could start, the pain started to increase , again (Jack)Margaret yelled “Please do something, get this thing out of my stomach”

Nurses gossiped each other something and looked at Margaret (Jack) doctor “you need to relax mam, it looks like you might have your delivery today, please stay calm, your blood pressure seems high”

(Jack) Margaret sweating  now, looked at both them of them in shock “What? Labor? today? No please, I can’t handle it, do something please”

Nurses hold (his)her hand and said “Doctor is in next room only, just stay calm”

The old man that Jack kicked on the road side came inside the hospital in a white shirt with stethoscope, (Jack) Margaret fainted to see the old man, and in a moment he woke up again in his wife body to see the doctor checking his wife pulses which is him now, doctors talked each other about all the medical terms which (Jack) Margaret could not understand, when (he)she suddenly felt something and water started to come out with some blood.

(Jack) Margaret screamed in pain and requested nurses “Please do something to stop this pain, please… ” (Jack) Margaret cried and cried in pain. (Jack) Margaret felt like someone stabbed multiple knifes on his hip.

(Jack) Margaret cried in pain, when a nurse came with some meds to ease out pain, The old doctor stopped her and said “let him deliver naturally”

Nurses looked at each other and smiled “doctor it’s a she”

The old man laughed “Ha ha I know, just bringing in gender equality in labor room” he winked.

(Jack) Margaret looked at the nurses and doctors, he felt everything blurry and the pain started to increase when the baby starts to come out, the old man whispered “Listen to your body. Just listen to your body”

(Jack) Margaret turned his head with tears and cried “Save me please, I am going to die”

Almost half hour this continued and the baby suddenly came out in few push, (Jack)Margaret  had his final scream aloud that entire hospital heard and got unconscious.

After the cords were cut, the baby was covered with a white cloth and placed next to mother.

(Jack) Margaret Mother now woke up to find him again in his wife body, started to cry recalling what happened a few minutes ago and found the his daughter next to him, he kissed his daughter and cried again. He thought to himself the pain he had gone through and recalled how he abused his wife everyday after coming back from work, he remembered all the painful moments that his wife gone through after getting married to him, as he was in her body he could able to access all her memory and wiped his eyes and looked at his daughter with tears.

The old doctor came next to him “How was it your first child?”

(Jack) Margaret looked at him in the eyes “that was the worst experience of my life doctor, thanks for saving me and my daughter”

The old man started at him and smiled “So what did you learned?”

(Jack) Margaret eyes started to fill with tears “everything, it’s not so easy being a mom”

The old man smiled “There is still lot more you have to see, but right now” the old man placed his eyes on his eyes and Jack woke up in his own body. He looked around, he was in a different room, he quickly ran out of his room to see his wife kiss her daughter.

He walked inside the room and hugged his wife and kissed her “Sorry for everything!”

His wife hushed his husband “don’t wake her please” Jack and Margaret lived happily after that, Jack’s personality completely changed and his respect towards women changed for good.
