Shop

Hey Everyone!

I am back from my little vacation with an ankle sprained leg πŸ˜‚. And i am totally fine with a sprain bandage. Today i got back to my work and this is how my heart felt when i entered office. U must get back to work πŸ™„ Sigh! tat feel hope you all could relate.

So coming to the topic.

Why do i do my regular shopping at Locals?

Before answering this, let me ask why should i shop my regular stuff in big markets?

I have a problem shopping at big markets. First reason is i hate crowds.

Omg! i feel like fainting….

Ok! thats personal, i dont want to discuss about it.

So why big markets?

You will have to stand in a big que because someone gave an interesting offer. People fly like bees and all bees on a same place full of crowds and they will cheat you with lot of offers, and points on your shopping card and she smiling and says thank you for shopping with us please come again, That means You are the best fool we ever met and keep coming and get fooled.

Yes! offers are always not an offer. Once a wise person said “Nothing is free in this world“.

You cannot bargain, You knew it these morons sell a 8$ product for 9$ and because it is on the bill, so you will buy that.

You cannot have friends, people change everytime you visit, new faces, new people and people at billing mostly are not customer friendly. Hope you get what i am saying. Some time you might have dealt with craziness.

They will only swipe your card and if you dont have money you must return your things, go home because they are strict.

They are corporates and they lose nothing because you did not like something, because they have bunch of sheeps follow them so called smart and regular customers.

So why did i said this?

Because i love shopping at locals. And i want to shop locally and improve a local business, not a corporate business.

So you might ask, do i not shop in malls at all? Yes i do! On a very rare non seasonal occasion when there is no crowd and for a smaller budget πŸ˜‰

But why? The people i shop know me. They know where i work. They know what i will buy. They know when do i need what, They suggest and get me good products by themselves for me.

During month end when i am penniless these people gave me credit without interest. When i do huge shopping i don’t have a credit card for EMI i had a short term EMI facility without documentation and without interest.

And moreover there is always less crowds, they act like they love you and care for you, even though it is fake, But it is OK.

I returned to my local shops from my mini vacation after 4 days, as i skipped my weekend shopping i went their yesterday.

When i visited, they asked me where i was, and what happened to my leg. They gave me chair to sit. They gave me natural tips to treat my sprain. They are going to be there always, they knew me and i dont go their for offers. I go their for their offer of “peace and kindness”.

Tell me a big market where i will get all these facility πŸ˜‰

Even though we have tremendous work pressure inside our head visit their shops and have a short conversation while buying a small product. That will just make your day for Good.

You will never get that feeling in big markets, or Online shopping.

What do you think?

  1. I can understand your viewpoint and maybe it’s different there than here. But the smaller local stores here are very expensive and I like to budget, why pay $10 for something when I can get the exact same thing for $6? This budgeting helps me to do something nice each year, like going to France back in June. I never thought I would like online shopping but it’s so convenient, especially when the temp is -40, who wants to go out? And it gets delivered right to my door, no extra charge and I save 45% over buying locally. Most of my online shopping is during the winter months! I would like to shop locally at the smaller stores but I guess I’m just too cheap! Good post though, have a great evening Simon!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ί

  2. So true. Online shopping and big markets don’t care for people. They loot people while at local markets you find more genuine products at reasonable prices. People must shop more at local markets so that average or poor shopkeepers can earn their livelihood.

  3. First I’m sorry for your leg injury πŸ˜• hope it didn’t ruin your vacation and it’s not so bad πŸ˜• get well soon πŸ™πŸ»
Second I agree with you and I hate big markets in general except when I have lot of things to buy and I also have time otherwise I go for small shops
I agree about the warmth and care in local shops but mostly you are helping a family to live, a kid to go to school, college, maybe to just eat and have the minimum while in big industries you are helping the rich to become richer that’s it, this is how I mainly see it and I don’t care if the items are a bit expensive but for this shop I can be helping putting food on table with these few bucks I’m spending
Thank you Simon for this topic and loved your Gifs 😁 so funny as usual and get well soon 😊😊

  7. Our northern location makes everything expensive anyway and the selection is terrible here, so online shopping is better for me, most of the time.πŸ˜€ Some things are still better bought locally.πŸ™‚ Interesting topic, shows how things vary around the world.πŸ‘ Enjoy your evening!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ί

  8. A vacation with surprises! Let say you returned home with some souvenirs πŸ™‚
I hope your ankle is better πŸ™‚
Well, you are lucky that you have the locals shop. Back home in Italy, I loved to buy from these small family shops…there is the greengrocer, the bakery, the cheesemaker, the winemaker, the pastry shop, the butcher….and as you said these people become family…they know what you like, they advise you what to take, they prepare the things for you, they greet you, awesome!
Unfortunately, living here, my only option is the supermarket which I hate it! So no choice! I try to buy my groceries online and avoid the unnecessary waste of time πŸ™‚
    Have a great day Simon!
